TIPS FOR INCLUDING THE RIGHT STREET AND MAILING ADDRESSES ON YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION FORM
There’s something important to remember when registering students who live in residence halls.
There are two types of addresses that must be included on each voter registration form. One is the street address of the residence. The other is the address at which the voter receives mail.
- Your address: Include the mailing address of the residence hall, not just the dorm’s name. On the paper form, include the dorm room number beside apt. number.
- The address where you receive mail: for on-campus students, this is often an address that includes their campus Post Office box.
You may want to have a cheat sheet that lists the names of each hall with their corresponding street addresses. A student may know they live on campus in Barker Hall, for example, but there’s usually no reason for them to know that they actually live at 250 Washington St.
When mailing back your form, be sure to include the mailing address of the board of elections in the county that matches your voter’s mailing address. This way, it gets to the right place for processing. The list of addresses is on the second page on the official voter registration form packet. If you only have the one-page form, you can also look up addresses on the Pennsylvania election officials contact page.
